Alexei Ramirez blasted a homerun and had 5 RBI as the Pittsburgh Soulkitchen
topped the St. Louis Scorpions by a score of 9 to 3 at Busch
Stadium.
Ramirez was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled plating two runs in the 3rd
inning and lost the ball over the fence for three runs in the 8th inning.
St. Louis was out-hit by Pittsburgh, 12 hits to 7.
Doug Fister(7-8) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and allowing 1
run. Daisuke Matsuzaka(1-1) was charged with the loss. He was not very
effective, surrendering 5 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
Jim Tracy was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games
-- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a
little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
