Ryan Braun had 2 base hits as the Cleveland Piledrivers staged a dramatic
comeback over the Kansas City Brown Bombers by a score of 5 to 4 at
Progressive Field.
Cleveland scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning scoring 3 runs on 5
hits. Braun started the inning off right when he doubled. Adam Jones next
to the plate and he stroked a base-hit. Prince Fielder then doubled.
Cameron Maybin followed next and he drew a walk. Pablo Sandoval came to the
plate and lined a one-base hit to load the bases. Ronny Paulino added his
contribution to the rally and stroked a base-hit. Both teams totaled 10 hits
on the night.
Francisco Rodriguez(3-5) was the winner allowing no runs in 2 innings. Matt
Capps(2-4) absorbed the loss in relief. Eric Wedge was in great spirits in
his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings after the
thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know
how my counterpart, Buddy Bell, feels right now - and it's not very good.
It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'
