In a startling finish the San Diego Aztecs staged a comeback then held on to
win over the New York (N) Knockers by a score of 4 to 2 at Citi Field.
San Diego had the winning rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 4 hits.
Rajai Davis led off and started the attack as he stroked a one-base hit.
Davis was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Francisco Cervelli
then laced a base-hit. After an out was recorded, Matt Kemp came up and he
lost the ball over the fence for three runs. Ian Stewart stepped into the
box and ripped a base-hit. Howie Kendrick kept the rally going and grounded
into a double play. Kyle Farnsworth(5-1) got relief help from Ryan Franklin
who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 12th save.
Frank Francisco(2-1) was hit with the loss in relief. Willie Randolph was
understandably not very talkative after his team's tough loss. He quickly
showered and changed and when asked about the game had a terse, yet polite
response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to lose. Our guys gave
it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin' on us tonight'
